SP-1 Hidden White
隐白 〔隱白〕 yǐn bái

Modern location: An acupoint located a little more than 1 fēn below the base of the nail on the medial side of the big toe.
Classical location: On the inner side of the big toe, the width of a garlic chive leaf from the corner of the nail. From
Local anatomy: The dorsal digital artery. On the anastomosis of the dorsal digital nerve derived from the superficial peroneal nerve and the plantar digital proprial nerve.
Action: Regulates and manages the blood; warms and supplements the spleen; clears the heart and stabilizes the spirit; warms yáng and returns counterflow.
Modern indications:
Classical indications: Panting; cold qì in the abdomen; intestinal heat with fulminant diarrhea; febrile disease with persistent nosebleed; heart vexation, sighing, sorrowfulness; cold in the foot and lower leg;
Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.1 cùn upward oblique insertion. Moxa: 3‒7 cones; pole 5‒20 min.
Needle sensation: Localized pain.
Point groups: Well (jǐng) (wood) point; one of the thirteen ghost points.
Point name meaning:
Additionally, the character 隐 (yǐn), which is similar to but not to be confused with 阴 (yīn), the opposite of 阳 (yáng), may point to the fact that the spleen belongs to the tai yīn channel, which is referred to as the yīn within yin.
Because 阴 means shadow,
cloudy,
dark,
etc., the yīn within the yīn is doubly obscure; thus 隐. The character 白 (bái), white, can be taken as a reference to the location of the point on the border of the white flesh of the toe. See
