The Book of Changes states that 兑 (duì) is the mouth
(兑为口也). This point is located on the upper border of the upper lip; hence its name may be rendered as Extremity of the Mouth.
Some sources suggest that the character 兑 (duì) is a substitute for 锐 ruì, meaning a sharp edge,
which can be taken as a description of the border of the upper lip. The character 端 (duān), meaning end,
may then refer to the end of the Governing Vessel just after this point. See acupoint names: origins, meanings, and translations.
