Indications:

Clears heat, moistens the liver, cools the blood, and stanches bleeding.

intestinal wind bleeding; bleeding from hemorrhoids; flooding and spotting; blood strangury and dysentery; vexation and oppression in the heart and chest; wind dizziness with difficulty in remaining standing; itching genital sores.

Dosage & Method: Oral: Decoct (6–15g); use in pills and powders; fresh tender fruits can be crushed for their juice. Topical: Burn preserving nature, grind, and apply mixed.

Product Description: The dried pod is cylindrical, and twisted. It is shrunken between the seeds, creating a pearl-string appearance. It is 1–6 cm long, with a diameter of 0.6–1 cm. The exterior surface is yellowish green to dark brown, with a marked yellow coloring along the dorsal suture on one side. There is often a fruit stalk at the base. The flesh is soft and sticky, and shrinks with drying. There are 1–6 kidney-shaped seeds within, 8–10 mm long, 5–8 mm wide, and 5 mm thick. They are dark brown to black, and shiny, with an elliptical hilum on one edge, with a round micropyle to one side and a protuberant raphe to the other. The leathery seed coat covers two green-yellow cotyledons.

Quality: Large, firm, fat, yellowish-green fruits are the best.
