Properties: Sour and astringent; balanced.
Channel entry: Liver and lung channels.
Actions and indications: Soothes the liver; harmonizes the stomach; transforms phlegm. Treats plum-pit qì; liver-stomach qì pain; poor appetite; dizziness; scrofula.
Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (2.4–4.5g) or use in powders or pills. Topical: Apply to the affected area.
Notes: White rather than red flowers are those chiefly used for medicinal purposes.
Production area: Sìchuān and Húběi.
