Properties: Salty; balanced. (Also sweet according to some sources).

Channel entry: Lung and liver channels.

Indications:

Dosage & Method: Oral: 6–10g in decoctions. Méng shí can be used in crude or calcined forms. It is usually supplied already calcined. It should be crushed and predecocted in cloth. Méng shí may also be used in powders and pills, at a dose of 1.5–3g.

Warnings: Méng shí is heavy and downbearing. It is contraindicated in spleen-stomach vacuity, chronic child fright wind, and in pregnancy.

Product Area: 青礞石: Sìchuān, Húběi, Húnán, Jiāngsū, and Zhèjiāng. 金礞石: Héběi, Hénán.
