Ingredients
- Yè míng shā (夜明砂 Vespertilionis Faeces, bat’s droppings) 6–9g
- Wú yí (芜荑 Ulmi Fructus Praeparatio, elm cake) 6–9g
- Shǐ jūn zǐ (使君子 Quisqualis Fructus, quisqualis [fruit]) 10–15g
- Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria) 6–9g
- Sān qī (三七 Notoginseng Radix, notoginseng [root]) 6–9g
- Bái zhú (白朮 Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, white atractylodes [root]) 6–9g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 3–6g
- Lú huì (芦荟 Aloe , aloe) 6–9g
Actions: Expels roundworm and eliminates gān; supplements the spleen and boosts qì.

Rationale: Shǐ jūn zǐ and Wú yí both kill worms and eliminate gān. Lú huì is a precipitating agent that makes the worms pass out in the stool. These three agents together address worm gān. When worms have been present in the body for a long time, the damage the liver and spleen, and liver heat rises to cause eye gān patterns characterized by four gentlemen.
They are included to address spleen vacuity and prevent the Lú huì damaging the stomach and spleen. The Gān cǎo helps to moderate the toxicity of the Lú huì and Shǐ jūn zǐ.
Notes: This formula is so-named because the Yè míng shā is wrapped in muslin for decoction.
