Liver-Repressing Powder
抑肝散 〔抑肝散〕 yì gān sǎn

Ingredients
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 1.5g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried) 1.5g
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome]) 2.4g
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 3g
- Bái zhú (白朮 Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, white atractylodes [root]) 3g
- Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria) 3g
- Gōu téng (钩藤 Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis, uncaria [stem and thorn]) 3g
Actions: Resolves tetany; quickens the blood and transforms stasis; resolves heat.
Indications: Liver channel vacuity heat with signs such as pain, heat effusion, grinding of the teeth, fright palpitation, and heat effusion and aversion to cold; wood overwhelming earth with vomiting of phlegm-drool, abdominal distension, reduced appetite, and unquiet sleep.
Rationale: Gōu téng resolves tetany. Chuān xiōng and Dāng guī quicken the blood and transform stasis. Chái hú resolves heat.
