One Zì Decoction
乙字汤 〔乙字湯〕 yǐ zì tāng
Source: Hara Nan Yō 原南阳
Ingredients
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 4–6g
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 4–6g
- Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) 3g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 2–3g
- Shēng má (升麻 Cimicifugae Rhizoma, cimicifuga [root]) 1–2g
- Dà huáng (大黄 Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, rhubarb) 0.5–1.5 (optional)
Indications: Hemorrhoids.
Method: Decoct with water.
Notes: 字 zì means a (Chinese) character or graph. In the formula name, it refers to an ancient unit of measure used in ancient China used for powdered substances equal to the amount that could be placed any of the four characters appearing on a copper coin.
