Source: Wàn Bìng Huí Chūn 万病回春

Ingredients:

• Xù duàn (续断 Dipsaci Radix, dipsacus [root]) 10g
• Bǔ gǔ zhī (补骨脂 Psoraleae Fructus, psoralea [fruit]) 5g
• Niú xī (牛膝 Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, achyranthes [root]) 5g
• Mù guā (木瓜 Chaenomelis Fructus, chaenomeles [fruit]) 5g
• Dù zhòng (杜仲 Eucommiae Cortex, eucommia [bark]) 5g
• Bì xiè (萆薢 Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae seu Semptemlobae Rhizoma, fish poison yam) 5g

Action:

Indication: Lumbar pain.

Category:

Method: Grind to a fine powder, blend with honey, and form into 300 mg pills.

Dosage: 10 pills on an empty stomach.

Rationale: Xù duàn, Niú xī, and Dù zhòng are warm or balanced agents that supplement the liver and kidney and strengthen the sinew and bone. Bǔ gǔ zhī supplements the kidney and assists yáng. Mù guā eliminates dampness and strengthens the sinews, while Bì xiè dispels wind and disinhibits dampness. This formula therefore treat kidney vacuity lumbar pain, and eliminates dampness that may be exacerbating the problem.
