Food Depression Decoction
食郁汤 〔食鬱湯〕shí yù tāng
Source: Zá Bìng Yuán Liú Xī Zhú 杂病源流犀烛
Ingredients:
- Cāng zhú (苍朮 Atractylodis Rhizoma, atractylodes [rhizome])
- Hòu pò (厚朴 Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, officinal magnolia bark)
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome])
- Chén pí (陈皮 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, tangerine peel)
- Shén qū (神曲 Massa Medicata Fermentata , medicated leaven)
- Shān zhī (山栀 Gardeniae Fructus, gardenia [fruit])
- Zhǐ ké (qiào) (枳壳 Aurantii Fructus, bitter orange)
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried)
- Xiāng fù (香附 Cyperi Rhizoma, cyperus [rhizome])
- Shā rén (砂仁 Amomi Fructus, amomum [fruit])
Action:
Indication: Depressed food characterized by bloating of the stomach duct and abdomen, belching of sour putrid qì (gas), inability to eat, abnormal stool. Pulse: Usually slippery and tight.
