Spleen-Clearing Decoction
清脾汤 〔清脾湯〕 qīng pí tāng

Ingredients
- Hòu pò (厚朴 Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, officinal magnolia bark) 9–12g
- Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome]) 9–12g
- Bái zhú (白朮 Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, white atractylodes [root]) 9–12g
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 9–12g
- Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria) 9–12g
- Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) 9–12g
- Qīng pí (青皮 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, unripe tangerine peel) 4.5–6g
- Cǎo guǒ (草果 Tsaoko Fructus, tsaoko [fruit]) 6–9g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 1.5–3g
Actions: Dries dampness and transforms phlegm; drains heat and clears the spleen.
Indications: Pure-heat malaria (dàn nüè 治瘅疟), strong heat effusion alternating with mild aversion to cold, or heat effusion without aversion to cold, glomus, poor appetite, bitter taste in the mouth, heart vexation, thirst, and reddish urine. Tongue: Dry. Pulse: Stringlike and rapid.
Method: Decoct with water.
