Yīn-Rectifying Brew
理阴煎 〔理陰煎〕lǐ yīn jiān
Source: Jǐng Yuè Quán Shū 景岳全书
Ingredients:
- Gān jiāng (干姜 Zingiberis Rhizoma, dried ginger) (stir-fried until yellow) 3–9g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried) 3–6g
- Shú dì huáng (熟地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, cooked rehmannia [root]) 9–60g
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 6–21g
- Ròu guì (肉桂 Cinnamomi Cortex, cinnamon bark) 3–6 gr (optional addition)
Action: Warms the center and dispels cold; boosts yīn and nourishes the blood.
Indication: Sudden contraction of cold that fails to resolve in patients suffering from insufficiency of true yīn or general tendency towardfatigue. The signs may include heat effusion, headache and generalized pain, red face and parched tongue, thirst without desire for fluid, or aversion to cold in the back and extremities. Pulse: Forceless.
