Damp diarrhea

湿泻 〔濕瀉〕shī xiè

Also soggy diarrhea; throughflux diarrhea. Diarrhea attributable to dampness qì damaging the spleen. The stool is either watery or sloppy and evacuated several times a day. The tongue fur is slimy and the pulse soggy.

Medicinal therapy: Transform dampness and harmonize the center using formulas like Dampness-Eliminating Decoction (除湿汤 chú shī tāng) or Stomach-Calming Poria Five Decoction (胃苓汤 wèi líng tāng). If there is heat, Fifth and Sixth Heavenly Stem Pill (戊己丸 wù jǐ wán) can be used.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV, ST, SP, and back transport points. Select CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), LR-13 (Camphorwood Gate, 章门 zhāng mén), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and CV-9 (Water Divide, 水分 shuǐ fēn). Needle with supplementation, adding moxa at these points or cross moxa (十字灸 shí zì jiǔ).
