Coursing the exterior and transforming dampness

疏表化湿 〔疏表化濕〕shū biǎo huà shī

A method of treatment used to address dampness in the upper burner and defense aspects, characterized by distension in the head and heavy-headedness, heavy aching body, slimy sensation in the mouth without thirst, slimy white tongue fur, and a soggy floating pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Use Notopterygium Dampness-Overcoming Decoction (羌活胜湿汤 qiāng huó shèng shī tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LI, LU, SP, and ST. Select GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), LU-7 (Broken Sequence, 列缺 liè quē), LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), LI-10 (Arm Three Lǐ, 手三里 shǒu sān lǐ), and ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ); needle with drainage and moxa, if necessary.
