Cold-damp lumbar pain

寒湿腰痛 〔寒濕腰痛〕hán shī yāo tòng

Lumbar pain attributable to cold-damp obstructing the channels and network vessels, inhibiting the movement of qì and blood. Cold-damp lumbar pain likes heat and refuses coldand is associated with normal eating and drinking, normal stool, and a tight sunken pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Dispel cold-damp and warm the channels and network vessels. Use formulas such as White Atractylodes and Aconite Decoction (朮附汤 zhú fù tāng) or Five Accumulations Powder (五积散 wǔ jī sǎn). Lumbar Rub Elixir (摩腰丹 mó yāo dān) can be applied topically.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on GV, BL, and SP. Select BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), GV-3 (Lumbar Yáng Pass, 腰阳关 yāo yáng guān), BL-40 (Bend Center, 委中 wěi zhōng), BL-60 (Kunlun Mountains, 昆仑 kūn lún), ouch points (阿是穴 ā shì xué), GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén), and SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán). Needle with drainage and use large amounts of moxa.
