Cold constipation

冷秘 〔冷秘〕lěng bì

Also yīn bind; cold bind. Constipation arising when spleen-kidney yáng vacuity causes yīn cold to congeal and bind, preventing food food from being warmed and moved. Cold constipation is associated with pale lips, harmony of mouth, lack of warmth in the limbs, cold sensation in the lumbus and abdomen, or cold pain in the abdomen, desire for heat and aversion to cold, long voidings of clear urine, an enlarged tongue with white fur, and a forceless fine pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Supplement the kidney and warm yáng. Use Pinellia and Sulfur Pill (半硫丸 bàn liú wán) plus cistanche (Cistanches Herba, 肉苁蓉 ròu cōng róng) and achyranthes (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, 牛膝 niú xī).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on the alarm, back transport, and lower uniting points of LI, and on CV, SP, and KI. Select BL-25 (Large Intestine Transport, 大肠俞 dà cháng shù), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), ST-37 (Upper Great Hollow, 上巨虚 shàng jù xū), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), KI-6 (Shining Sea, 照海 zhào hǎi), KI-18 (Stone Pass, 石关 shí guān), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), and CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán); needle with supplementation and add moxa. Apply moxa on salt or ginger at CV-8 (Spirit Gate Tower, 神阙 shén què).
