Pinellia and Sulfur Pill
半硫丸 〔半硫丸〕bàn liú wán

Ingredients:
- Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome])
- Liú huáng (硫黄 Sulphur , sulfur)
- Jiāng zhī (姜汁 Zingiberis Rhizomatis Succus, ginger juice)
Action: Warms the spleen and kidney and frees the stool.

Method: Equal proportions of pinellia and sulfur ground to a fine powder, blended with ginger juice, and formed into pills the size of mung beans.
Dosage: 6–9g at a time taken with warm water.
Rationale: Liú huáng supplements the life gate fire, thereby helping to stimulate the spleen. Bàn xià fortifies the spleen and stomach, and has a downbearing action that is complementary to the Liú huáng.
