When the pattern comprises stirring wind, Provisioning-Clearing Decoction can be combined with the liver-clearing and wind-extinguishing method by the admixture of medicinals such as antelope horn (Saigae Tataricae Cornu, 羚羊角líng yáng jiǎo) and uncaria (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis, 钩藤gōu téng). If the evil entering the provisioning aspect is damp-heat, the basic methods must be combined with that of drying dampness and clearing heat with cold bitter medicinals such as scutellaria (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩huáng qín) and coptis (Coptidis Rhizoma, 黄连huáng lián).
