PC-3 Marsh at the Bend

曲泽 〔曲澤〕 qū zé

Channel: PC, hand reverting yīn (jué yīn) pericardium channel

Modern location: An acupoint located at the elbow, on the cubital crease, in the depression on the ulnar side of the biceps brachii tendon.

Classical location: On the inner side of the elbow, where a pulsating vessel can be felt on the inside of the large sinew on the transverse crease. From The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (针灸大成 zhēn jiǔ dà chéng)

Local anatomy: The pathway of the brachial artery and vein. The median nerve.

Action: Clears provisioning and cools the blood; downbears counterflow and checks vomiting; eliminates vexation and settles tetany.

Modern indications: Heart pain; heart palpitation; stomach pain; retching and vomiting; diarrhea; febrile disease; pain in the elbow and arm.

Classical indications: Susceptibility to fright; generalized heat effusion; vexation and thirst and dry mouth; cold damage, seasonal warm disease, scourges and pestilences; cholera cramps; headache and dizzy vision; sand patterns (shā zhèng); cough and counterflow.

Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.5‒0.7 cùn perpendicular insertion; bleed for sand (shā) disease. Moxa: 1‒3 cones; pole 5‒15 min.

Needle sensation: Localized twinge, distension, and numbness. Sometimes the distension and numbness will spread down to the fingers.

Point groups: Uniting () (water) point.
