Ingredients:

• Xī jiǎo (犀角 Rhinocerotis Cornu, rhinoceros horn) (ground to a juice)18g
• Shí chāng pú (石菖蒲 Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, acorus [root]) 18g
• Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) 18g
• Shēng dì huáng (生地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Exsiccata seu Recens, dried/fresh rehmannia [root]) 50g
• Yín huā (银花 Lonicerae Flos, lonicera [flower]) 50g
• Fèn qīng (粪清 Hominis Excrementi Liquidum Extractum, purified feces) 30g
• Lián qiào (连翘 Forsythiae Fructus, forsythia [fruit]) 30g
• Bǎn lán gēn (板蓝根 Isatidis Radix, isatis root) 27g
• Dàn dòu chǐ (淡豆豉 Sojae Semen Praeparatum, fermented soybean[1]) 24g
• Xuán shēn (玄参 Scrophulariae Radix, scrophularia [root]) 21g
• Huā fěn (花粉 Trichosanthis Radix, trichosanthes root) 12g
• Zǐ cǎo (紫草 Arnebiae/Lithospermi Radix, arnebia/lithospermum) 12g

Action: Clears provisioning and opens the orifices; cools the blood and resolves toxin.

Indication: Warm heat or summerheat epidemics or damp warmth transforming into dryness with the evil entering provisioning-blood and damaging yīn-fluids, and giving rise to signs such as high fever, clouded spirit, delirious speech, purple maculopapular eruption, putrefaction of the mouth and throat (oral putrescence), red eyes, vexation and agitation. Tongue: Crimson or purple.

Method: Nowadays prepared as a decoction. The fenqing may be omitted.
