Wood fire tormenting metal

木火刑金 〔木火刑金〕mù huǒ xíng jīn

Also exuberant fire tormenting metal. Liver fire affecting the lung. Wood in the five phases is the liver, and metal is the lung. When liver fire becomes excessively effulgent, it can scorch lung yīn, causing dry cough, chest and rib-side pain, heart vexation, bitter taste in the heart, red eyes, and, in severe cases, expectoration of blood. This is the manifestation of wood fire tormenting metal.

Medicinal therapy: Use White-Draining Powder (泻白散 xiè bái sǎn) combined with Indigo and Clamshell Powder (黛蛤散 dài gé sǎn) plus scutellaria (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩 huáng qín), anemarrhena (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 知母 zhī mǔ), platycodon (Platycodonis Radix, 桔梗 jié gěng), unripe tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 青皮 qīng pí), and tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 陈皮 chén pí).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LU and LR. Select BL-13 (Lung Transport, 肺俞 fèi shù), LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé), LU-10 (Fish Border, 鱼际 yú jì), LR-2 (Moving Between, 行间 xíng jiān), and GB-34 (Yáng Mound Spring, 阳陵泉 yáng líng quán); needle with drainage.
