Wind and dampness contending with each other

风湿相搏 〔風濕相搏〕fēng shī xiāng bó

Interaction between wind and dampness evils after they have entered the body. Wind is ayáng evil and mobile and penetrating; dampness is a yīn evil, and tends to stagnate andimpede the movement of qì and blood. When the two combine, they cause generalized pain in thejoints and flesh. On Cold Damage (伤寒论 shāng hán lùn) states, When wind and dampness contend with each other,the joints are affected by vexing and pulling pain that prevents bending and stretching and isexacerbated by touching. There is sweating, shortness of breath, inhibited urination, aversionto wind with disinclination to remove clothing, and in some cases mild generalized swelling. It is treated with Licorice and Aconite Decoction (甘草附子gān cǎo fù zǐ tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on GB,GV, TB, and LI. Select GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí),GV-20 (Hundred Convergences, 百会bǎi huì), TB-5 (Outer Pass, 外关wài guān), LI-11 (Pool at the Bend, 曲池 qū chí), LI-4(Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sānlǐ), and SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn língquán), as the main points. Needle with drainage.
