Spleen-stomach disharmony

脾胃不和 〔脾胃不和〕pí wèi bù hé

A pathology of the spleen and stomach characterized by glomus, oppression, and continuous pain in the stomach duct exacerbated by hunger, abdominal distension and poor transformation of food, belching, hiccup, and, in severe cases, vomiting, a liking for pressure and warmth, a pale tongue with dental impressions on the margins and a thin white fur, and a forceless sunken fine or sunken moderate pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Fortify the spleen and nourish the stomach. Use Costusroot and Amomum Six Gentlemen Decoction (香砂六君子汤 xiāng shā liù jūn zǐ tāng) or Spleen-Returning Decoction (归脾汤 guī pí tāng) plus amomum (Amomi Fructus, 砂仁 shā rén), corydalis (Corydalis Rhizoma, 延胡索 yán hú suǒ), and evodia (Evodiae Fructus, 吴茱萸 wú zhū yú).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on back transport points, CV, SP, and ST. Select BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), BL-21 (Stomach Transport, 胃俞 wèi shù), CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo); needle with supplementation and add moxa.
