Sloughing scrotum

脱囊 〔脫囊〕tuō náng

Redness and swelling of the scrotum causing ulceration that, in severe cases, leaves the testicles exposed. Sloughing scrotum is attributed to damp-heat fire toxin pour down into the liver channel.

Medicinal therapy: Drain liver fire; disinhibit damp-heat. In the initial stages, use Gentian Liver-Draining Decoction (龙胆泻肝汤 lóng dǎn xiè gān tāng). Before ulceration, apply Jade Dew Powder (玉露散 yù lù sǎn) or Golden Yellow Powder (金黄散 jīn huáng sǎn). After ulceration, first wash with brine or a decoction of perilla stem (Perillae Caulis, 紫苏梗 zǐ sū gěng), and then apply Flesh-Engendering Powder (生肌散 shēng jī sǎn) or Flesh-Engendering Jade and Red Paste (生肌玉红膏 shēng jī yù hóng gāo) and dress with gauze. Change the dressing each day.
