Rheum evil congesting the lung

饮邪壅肺 〔飲邪壅肺〕 yǐn xié yōng fèi

A form of propping rheum characterized by panting and fullness in the chest, thin clear phlegm, and, in severe cases, scant urine, white slimy tongue fur, and a stringlike sunken pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Drain the lung and expel rheum with Lepidium/Descurainiae and Jujube Lung-Draining Decoction (葶苈大枣泻肺汤 tíng lì dà zǎo xiè fèi tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LU, LI, SP, and ST. Select BL-13 (Lung Transport, 肺俞 fèi shù), LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé), CV-22 (Celestial Chimney, 天突 tiān tú), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng), SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), and ST-40 (Bountiful Bulge, 丰隆 fēng lóng); needle with drainage.
