Category: Qì-rectifying formulas / Qì-downbearing formulas

Method: Decoct with water.

Rationale: Tíng lì zǐ drains the lung and disinhibits water, as well as dispersing phlegm and calming panting. Dà zǎo is a sweet center-harmonizing agent that prevents damage to right qì by the other agent. Over recent years, this formula has been used to treat whooping cough and cardiogenic asthma. However, whatever the disease being treated, it is usually combined with other agents.
