Qì vomiting

气呕 〔氣嘔〕qì ǒu

Vomiting that arises when anger or anxiety and general emotional imbalance cause binding depression of spleen qì. Signs include distension and fullness in the chest and diaphragm, a feeling of satiety without eating, and vomiting of ingested food. In some cases, the patient may eat normally and vomit during the night.

Medicinal therapy: Move qì and harmonize the spleen with formulas such as Clove and Aquilaria Diaphragm-Freeing Decoction (丁沉透膈汤 dīng chén tòu gé tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on alarm and lower uniting points of ST, and on PC, CV, back transport points, and SP. Select CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), and SP-4 (Yellow Emperor, 公孙 gōng sūn); needle with even supplementation and drainage.
