Qì vacuity habitual miscarriage

气虚滑胎 〔氣虛滑胎〕qì xū huá tāi

Habitual miscarriage attributed to qì vacuity. Qì vacuity habitual miscarriage arises when spleen-stomach vacuity develops in pregnancy and causes insecurity of the thoroughfare (chōng) and controlling (rèn) vessels that deprives the fetus of its bearing. Accompanying signs include aching lumbus, abdominal distension, stirring fetus sometimes with bleeding, shortness of breath and lack of strength.

Medicinal therapy: Boost qì and quiet the fetus. A basic formula is Origin-Lifting Brew (举元煎 jǔ yuán jiān), to which eucommia (Eucommiae Cortex, 杜仲 dù zhòng) and mistletoe (Taxilli Herba, 桑寄生 sāng jì shēng) may be added for aching lumbus and sagging pain in the abdomen. Ass hide glue (Asini Corii Colla, 阿胶 ē jiāo) and charred mugwort (Artemisiae Argyi Folium Carbonisatum, 艾叶炭 ài yè tàn) may be added if there is bleeding.
