Qì accumulation

气积 〔氣積〕qì jī

An accumulation attributed to disharmony of qì dynamic stemming from thought, anxiety, depression, or anger. Qì accumulation is characterized by oppression in the chest, belching, and rib-side and abdominal distension. Sometimes there is the intermittent appearance of a lump and distending pain of unfixed location.

Medicinal therapy: Course the liver and rectify qì using Major Seven Qì Decoction (大七气汤 dà qī qì tāng) or Counterflow Cold Powder (四逆散 sì nì sǎn) plus cyperus (Cyperi Rhizoma, 香附子 xiāng fù zǐ), curcuma (Curcumae Radix, 郁金 yù jīn), unripe tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 青皮 qīng pí), and tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 陈皮 chén pí).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LR, PC, GB, CV, and back transport points. Select LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), GB-34 (Yáng Mound Spring, 阳陵泉 yáng líng quán), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng), BL-18 (Liver Transport, 肝俞 gān shù), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), TB-6 (Branch Ditch, 支沟 zhī gōu), and LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ); needle with drainage.
