Pale menstrual flow

经来色淡 〔經來色淡〕jīng lái sè dàn

Menstrual discharge that is paler than normal in color. Pale menstrual flow is attributable to dual vacuity of qì and blood and spleen-kidney yáng vacuity preventing normal movement and transformation.

Medicinal therapy: Supplement qì and blood to regulate menstruation. Use Eight-Gem Decoction (八珍汤 bā zhēn tāng) plus astragalus (Astragali Radix, 黄芪 huáng qí), cyperus (Cyperi Rhizoma, 香附子 xiāng fù zǐ), and fresh ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 生姜 shēng jiāng). Take Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill (六味地黄丸 liù wèi dì huáng wán) on a regular basis. For severe vacuity, dried ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma, 干姜 gān jiāng) and aconite (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Praeparata, 附子 fù zǐ) may also be used.

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on back transport points, CV, SP, ST, and KI. Select BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), and GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén); needle with supplementation and moxa.
