Nourishing the blood and resolving the exterior

养血解表 〔養血解表〕 yǎng xuè jiě biǎo

A method of treatment used to address yīn-blood depletion with common cold characterized by headache, generalized heat, slight aversion to cold, absence of sweating, soft-red tongue with little fur, and a rapid soggy pulse.

Medicinal therapy: A commonly used blood-nourishing exterior-resolving formula is Scallion White Seven-Ingredient Beverage (葱白七味饮 cōng bái qī wèi yǐn).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on SP, ST, LR, GB, LU, and LI. Needle with supplementation at BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), and LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), with drainage at GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), TB-5 (Outer Pass, 外关 wài guān), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), and LU-7 (Broken Sequence, 列缺 liè quē).
