Long-bout cough1

顿嗽 〔頓嗽〕 dùn sòu

A disease pattern described in Account of Medicine (医述 yī shù) as a cough that comes in bouts of ten or more coughs. It is attributed to lung dryness and damage to liquid.

Medicinal therapy: Nourish yīn and moisten the lung with Dryness-Clearing Lung-Rescuing Decoction (清燥救肺汤 qīng zào jiù fèi tāng) or Ophiopogon and Asparagus Decoction (二冬汤 èr dōng tāng). Compare whooping cough.
