Cold damage water amassment pattern

伤寒蓄水证 〔傷寒蓄水證〕shāng hán xù shuǐ zhèng

A greater yáng (tài yáng) bowel pattern arising when greater yáng (tài yáng) disease fails to resolve, and evil heat passes through the channel into the bowel (the bladder) and binds with water, hampering qì transformation. Signs include floating pulse, heat effusion, thirst, inhibited urination, lesser abdominal fullness, and in some cases the immediate vomiting of water ingested.

Medicinal therapy: Free yáng and promote qì transformation; disinhibit water and resolve the exterior. Use Poria Five Powder (五苓散 wǔ líng sǎn).

See greater yáng (tài yáng) disease.
