Greater yáng (tài yáng) disease

太阳病 〔太陽病〕tài yáng bìng

Any of several diseases affecting greater yáng (tài yáng).

Greater yáng (tài yáng) channel disease (太阳经病 tài yáng jīng bìng): Disease of the greater yáng (tài yáng) channels forming Cinnamon Twig Decoction (桂枝汤 guì zhī tāng) or Ephedra Decoction (麻黄汤 má huáng tāng) patterns. Greater yáng (tài yáng) disease patterns are exterior patterns that are observed before the evil passes into the interior. Thus urine and stool are generally not affected, and there is no thirst. greater yáng (tài yáng) channel disease.

Greater yáng (tài yáng) bowel patterns (太阳腑病 tài yáng fǔ bìng): Greater yáng (tài yáng) disease affecting the bladder or bladder region. They include greater yáng (tài yáng) water amassment and greater yáng (tài yáng) blood amassment. Water amassment is characterized by a floating pulse, heat effusion, thirst with inhibited urination, lesser abdominal fullness, and in some cases immediate vomiting of ingested fluids, the principal feature being inhibited urination.
