Lesser yáng (shào yáng) headache

少阳头痛 〔少陽頭痛〕 shào yáng tóu tòng

1. Headache occurring yīn lesser yáng (shào yáng) disease in cold damage, i.e., attended by alternative heat effusion and aversion to cold, and a rapid stringlike pulse.

Medicinal therapy: Treat with Minor Bupleurum Decoction (小柴胡汤 xiǎo chái hú tāng) and variations.

Acumoxatherapy: Select TB-4 (Yáng Pool, 阳池 yáng chí), GB-40 (Hill Ruins, 丘墟 qiū xū), GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), and GV-16 (Wind House, 风府 fēng fǔ).

2. Headache on the pathway of the lesser yáng (shào yáng), i.e., the corners of the head or temples.

Medicinal therapy: Use formulas with bupleurum (Bupleuri Radix, 柴胡 chái hú) as the conductor.

Acumoxatherapy: Select Greater yáng (tài yáng) (太阳 tài yáng), GB-8 (Valley Lead, 率谷 shuài gǔ), TB-2 (Humor Gate, 液门 yè mén), and GB-43 (Pinched Ravine, 侠溪 xiá xī).
