Kidney vacuity amenorrhea

肾虚经闭 〔腎虛經閉〕shèn xū jīng bì

Amenorrhea (abnormal absence of menses) due to kidney vacuity arising when insufficiency of earlier heaven (congenital deficiencies), early marriage, excessive childbirths, or sexual intemperance cause damage to kidney qì, thereby causing insufficiency of the thoroughfare (chōng) and controlling (rèn) vessels and uterine blood vacuity. Kidney vacuity amenorrhea is associated with dizzy head and tinnitus, limp aching lumbus and knees, and frequent urination.

Medicinal therapy: Supplement the kidney and nourish the blood using Yīn-Securing Brew (固阴煎 gù yīn jiān) plus deerhorn glue (Cervi Cornus Gelatinum, 鹿角胶 lù jiǎo jiāo), psoralea (Psoraleae Fructus, 补骨脂 bǔ gǔ zhī), and cistanche (Cistanches Herba, 肉苁蓉 ròu cōng róng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on back transport points, CV, KI, ST, and SP. Select BL-23 (Kidney Transport, 肾俞 shèn shù), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), KI-2 (Blazing Valley, 然谷 rán gǔ), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo); needle with supplementation. For pronounced kidney yáng vacuity, use moxa at GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén) and CV-3 (Central Pole, 中极 zhōng jí).
