Blood cold scant menstruation

血寒月经过少 〔血寒月經過少〕xuè hán yuè jīng guò shǎo

Scant menstruation due to yáng vacuity engendering internal yīn cold, insufficient production of blood due to reduced qì transformation and shortage of blood in the thoroughfare (chōng) and controlling (rèn) vessels. A scant thin pale or dark pale or dark flow is accompanied by physical cold and aversion to cold, cold pain in the smaller abdomen relieved by warmth.

Medicinal therapy: Warm the channels and nourish the blood with formulas such as Major Provisioning Brew (大营煎 dà yíng jiān) with the addition of blast-fried ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum, 炮姜 páo jiāng) and, if necessary, aconite (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Praeparata, 附子 fù zǐ).

Acumoxatherapy: The CV, back transport points, SP, and ST provide the main basis for treatment. Select CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), BL-20 (Spleen Transport, 脾俞 pí shù), BL-17 (Diaphragm Transport, 膈俞 gé shù), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), CV-4 (Pass Head, 关元 guān yuán), GV-4 (Life Gate, 命门 mìng mén), and KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), and needle with supplementation and use large amounts of moxa.
