Ingredients
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 9g
- Shú dì huáng (熟地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, cooked rehmannia [root]) 12g
- Gǒu qǐ zǐ (枸杞子 Lycii Fructus, lycium [berry]) 9g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried) 9g
- Dù zhòng (杜仲 Eucommiae Cortex, eucommia [bark]) 9g
- Huái niú xī (怀牛膝 Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, achyranthes [root]) 9g
- Ròu guì (肉桂 Cinnamomi Cortex, cinnamon bark) 3g
Actions: Warms the channels and supplements the blood.
Indications: Delayed menstruation due to blood cold forming a) a repletion cold pattern of scant dark flow, gripping abdominal pain, blue-white complexion, fear of cold, cold limbs, thin white tongue fur, and tight sunken pulse, or b) a vacuity cold pattern of clear pale flow, fear of cold and a liking for warmth, continuous abdominal pain relieved by pressure, cold abdomen, bright white completion, aching lumbus and lack of strength, pale tongue with thin fur, and a fine sunken forceless pulse.
Method: Grind to a powder and take infused.
Rationale: This formula treats both repletion due to exposure to cold and vacuity patterns due to insufficiency of yáng qì. Dāng guī, Shú dì huáng, and Gǒu qǐ zǐ nourish the blood, which are especially necessary for the vacuity pattern with
