Heat strangury

热淋 〔熱淋〕rè lín

1. Also damp-heat strangury. Strangury attributable to damp-heat brewing in the lower burner. Heat strangury is characterized by the general features of strangury (urinary urgency with frequent difficult and painful voidings), as well as by reddish urine. Other possible signs include alternating heat and cold, lumbar pain, and smaller abdominal distension and pain.

Medicinal therapy: Clear heat and disinhibit dampness using formulas such as Eight Corrections Powder (八正散 bā zhèng sǎn), Red-Abducting Powder (导赤散 dǎo chì sǎn), or Five Stranguries Powder (五淋散 wǔ lín sǎn).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on the three yīn channels of the foot and alarm and back transport points of BL (CV-3 and BL-28). Select BL-28 (Bladder Transport, 膀胱俞 páng guāng shù), CV-3 (Central Pole, 中极 zhōng jí), SP-9 (Yin Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), LR-2 (Moving Between, 行间 xíng jiān), KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī), LR-8 (Spring at the Bend, 曲泉 qū quán), SP-6 (Three Yīn Intersection, 三阴交 sān yīn jiāo), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), and TB-5 (Outer Pass, 外关 wài guān). Needle with drainage.
