Heat night crying

热夜啼 〔熱夜啼〕 rè yè tí

Crying in infants and children attributed to fetal heat, fright heat, or wind-heat. Heat night crying is associated with supine posture, copious tearing, red facial complexion reddish urine, generalized heat (possibly with sweating), and hot breath. The crying is exacerbated by heat and light.

Medicinal therapy: Clear the heart and quiet the spirit using Red-Abducting Powder (导赤散 dǎo chì sǎn) plus coptis (Coptidis Rhizoma, 黄连 huáng lián).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on HT, GV, LI, SI, and empirical points. Needle with drainage at BL-15 (Heart Transport, 心俞 xīn shù), HT-8 (Lesser Mansion, 少府 shào fǔ), HT-7 (Spirit Gate, 神门 shén mén), GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī), and LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), and with even supplementation and drainage at Quiet Sleep (安眠 ān mián), Hall of Impression (印堂 yìn táng), and SI-3 (Back Ravine, 后溪 hòu xī).
