Harmonizing the stomach

和胃 〔和胃〕 hé wèi

Also harmonizing the center. A method of treatment used to address stomach qì disharmony characterized by distension and oppression in the stomach duct, belching, vomiting of sour fluid, and pale tongue with white fur.

Medicinal therapy: Stomach-harmonizing medicinals include tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 陈皮 chén pí), ginger pinellia (Pinelliae Tuber cum Zingibere Praeparatum, 姜半夏 jiāng bàn xià), costusroot (Aucklandiae Radix, 木香 mù xiāng), and amomum (Amomi Fructus, 砂仁 shā rén). Use formulas such as Stomach-Calming Powder (平胃散 píng wèi sǎn).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on ST and PC. Select ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), and CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi). Needle with even supplementation and drainage.
