Bitter vomiting

呕苦 〔嘔苦〕ǒu kǔ

Also vomiting of bitter water; vomiting of bile. Vomiting of bitter-tasting fluid. Bitter vomiting is usually a sign of disease in the liver channel.

Medicinal therapy: Treat with Bupleurum Gallbladder-Clearing Decoction (柴胡清胆汤 chái hú qīng dǎn tāng), which is comprised of bupleurum (Bupleuri Radix, 柴胡 chái hú), scutellaria (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩 huáng qín), pinellia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 半夏 bàn xià), tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 陈皮 chén pí), licorice (Glycyrrhizae Radix, 甘草 gān cǎo), or bamboo shavings (Bambusae Caulis in Taenia, 竹茹zhú rú). Alternatively use Left-Running Metal Pill (左金丸 zuǒ jīn wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on PC, ST, and CV, and on alarm and lower uniting points of GB. Select CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn), PC-6 (Inner Pass, 内关 nèi guān), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), LR-3 (Supreme Surge, 太冲 tài chōng), GB-24 (Sun and Moon, 日月 rì yuè), and GB-34 (Yang Mound Spring, 阳陵泉 yáng líng quán); needle with drainage.
