Food accumulation abdominal pain

食积腹痛 〔食積腹痛〕shí jī fù tòng

Abdominal pain due to dietary irregularities, spleen vacuity, and food stagnating in the stomach and intestines. Food accumulation abdominal pain does not like pressure and is accompanied by distension and fullness, aversion to food, belching, acid swallowing, and constipation. Severe pain may be accompanied by the urge to defecate and may be relieved by defecation. The tongue fur is slimy. The pulse is stringlike, and possibly sunken and slippery.

Medicinal therapy: Rectify qì and harmonize the center; disperse food and abduct stagnation. Use formulas such as Harmony-Preserving Pill (保和丸 bǎo hé wán) and Unripe Bitter Orange Stagnation-Abducting Pill (枳实导滞丸 zhǐ shí dǎo zhì wán).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on CV and ST. Select CV-10 (Lower Stomach Duct, 下脘 xià wǎn), ST-25 (Celestial Pivot, 天枢 tiān shū), ST-21 (Beam Gate, 梁门 liáng mén), Lǐ Inner Court (里内庭 lǐ nèi tíng), CV-6 (Sea of Qì, 气海 qì hǎi), ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ), and CV-21 (Jade Swivel, 璇玑 xuán jī); needle with drainage. For pronounced pain, add ST-34 (Beam Hill, 梁丘 liáng qiū),
