Eyebrow bone pain

眉稜骨痛 〔眉稜骨痛〕 méi léng gǔ tòng

Pain felt in the eyebrow bone. It is mostly attributable to external contraction of wind-heat and phlegm damp lying depressed in the inner body. It is often seen together with yáng brightness (yáng míng) headache and lesser yáng (shào yáng) headache.

Medicinal therapy: Dispel wind, clear fire, and flush phlegm. Incisive Light on the Source of Miscellaneous Disease (杂病源流犀烛 zá bìng yuán liú xī zhú) suggests a formula containing saposhnikovia (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 防风 fáng fēng), notopterygium (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, 羌活 qiāng huó), scutellaria (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩 huáng qín), and licorice (Glycyrrhizae Radix, 甘草 gān cǎo). Alternatively, use variations of Phlegm-Abducting Decoction (导痰汤 dǎo tán tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Main points: BL-2 (Bamboo Gathering, 攒竹 zǎn zhú), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), GV-24 (Spirit Court, 神庭 shén tíng), ST-8 (Head Corner, 头维 tóu wéi), and ST-41 (Ravine Divide, 解溪 jiě xī); needle with drainage. To dispel wind and clear fire, add GB-20 (Wind Pool, 风池 fēng chí), TB-5 (Outer Pass, 外关 wài guān), and GV-14 (Great Hammer, 大椎 dà zhuī). To flush phlegm, add ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ) and ST-40 (Bountiful Bulge, 丰隆 fēng lóng).
