Downbearing qì and calming panting

降逆平喘 〔降逆平喘〕jiàng nì píng chuǎn

A method of treatment used to downbear counterflow and precipitate qì in the treatment of wheezing and panting or rapid panting breathing, and copious phlegm.

Medicinal therapy: For repletion patterns, use Panting-Stabilizing Decoction (定喘汤 dìng chuǎn tāng), and for repletion patterns, use Six Gentlemen Decoction (六君子汤 liù jūn zǐ tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: For repletion patterns, base treatment mainly on LU and LI. Select M-BW-1 (定喘 dìng chuǎn, Panting Stabilizer), LU-7 (Broken Sequence, 列缺 liè quē), LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé), LI-4 (Union Valley, 合谷 hé gǔ), and CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng); needle with drainage. For vacuity patterns, base treatment mainly on LU and back transport points. Select BL-13 (Lung Transport, 肺俞 fèi shù), M-BW-1 (定喘 dìng chuǎn, Panting Stabilizer), BL-43 (Gāo-Huāng Transport, 膏肓俞 gāo huāng shù), LU-9 (Great Abyss, 太渊 tài yuān), and ST-36 (Leg Three Lǐ, 足三里 zú sān lǐ); needle with supplementation and add moxa.
