Dispersing phlegm and calming panting

消痰平喘 〔消痰平喘〕 xiāo tán píng chuǎn

A method of treatment used to address copious phlegm with qì counterflow, oppression in the chest, reduced food intake, sticky slimy tongue fur, and a slippery pulse due to phlegm-rheum deep-lying in the lung. An example of a phlegm-dispersing panting-calming formula is Three-Seed Filial Devotion Decoction (三子养亲汤 sān zǐ yǎng qīn tāng).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment mainly on LU and ST. Select BL-13 (Lung Transport, 肺俞 fèi shù), LU-1 (Central Treasury, 中府 zhōng fǔ), M-BW-1 (定喘 dìng chuǎn, Panting Stabilizer), LU-7 (Broken Sequence, 列缺 liè quē), LU-5 (Cubit Marsh, 尺泽 chǐ zé), CV-17 (Chest Center, 膻中 shān zhōng), ST-40 (Bountiful Bulge, 丰隆 fēng lóng), and CV-12 (Center Stomach Duct, 中脘 zhōng wǎn); needle with drainage.
