Lumbar pain due to damp-heat obstructing the channels and network vessels. Damp-heat lumbar pain is characterized by lumbar and hip pain with local sensation of heat, associated with a rapid stringlike pulse and reddish urine.

Medicinal therapy: Clear heat and disinhibit dampness. Use formulas like Supplemented Mysterious Two Powder (加味二妙散 jiā wèi èr miào sǎn).

Acumoxatherapy: Base treatment on SP, BL, and KI. Select SP-9 (Yīn Mound Spring, 阴陵泉 yīn líng quán), BL-40 (Bend Center, 委中 wěi zhōng), BL-37 (Gate of Abundance, 殷门 yīn mén), and KI-3 (Great Ravine, 太溪 tài xī). Needle with drainage or prick to bleed.
