Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter and acrid; balanced; toxic.

Actions and indications: Clears heat and resolves toxin; quickens the blood and soothes the sinews. Treats throat moth; mumps; scrofula; welling- and flat-abscesses (yōng jū) swelling pain; malarial disease; wind-damp pain; stomach pain; injury from knocks and falls.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (6–9g dried, 15–30g fresh) or steep in wine. Topical: Grind and apply mixed or apply fresh herb crushed.
