Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter; warm; slightly toxic.

Actions and indications: Transforms phlegm; disperses stasis; interrupts malaria; kills worms. Treats swollen boils, welling-abscesses (yōng), and sores; stubborn lichen (xiǎn); bald scalp sores (tū chuāng); malarial disease; dysentery; taxation damage cough; child gān accumulation; injury from knocks and falls.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (3–9g) or grind to a powder. Topical: Apply crushed.
