Properties: Acrid; warm; nontoxic*.

Indications:

Opens the orifices, sweeps phlegm, dispels wind, perfuses dampness, fortifies the stomach, resolves toxin.

clouded spirit and delirious speech; epilepsy in febrile disease; qì block deafness; profuse dreaming; forgetfulness; glomus in the chest; nausea and vomiting; wind-damp impediment (fēng shī bì) pain.

Notes: Used as a substitute for 石菖蒲.
